MS. ALISON ZERAFA CIVELLI - PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Alison Zerafa Civelli - Who is she?
From Cospicua and I live in Kalkara. Daughter of Emanuela and Anthony Zerafa. The second of five siblings, married to Christian Civelli and the mother of a six-year-old girl, Carla. I always attended government schools and after the sixth form I enrolled at the University of Malta for the Bachelor of Education course. I then went on to study and obtained a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Malta and am currently pursuing a Masters in Management and Good Governance.
My profession is that of an educator. I have taught at various levels and in government schools. I have worked with students with social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. In 2016 I served as an assistant principal and later as a coordinator at another learning center.
Between 2013 and 2022 I held the position of Mayor of Cospicua - a position from which I learned immensely and which brought me closer to the people on a daily basis. In March 2022 I contested the General Election with the Labour Party and was elected to the Maltese Parliament where I was entrusted with the post of Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government.
Political and Local Involvement
From the age of sixteen I was actively involved in several local groups and in the Labour party on a voluntary basis. My first volunteer job was at Daritama Cospicua and later at the local Cospicua Labour committee. I also took part in the highest institutions of the Labour Party – both in the National Executive and the Labour Youth Forum. I also took part in popular TV programs on ONE TV, including Bla Agenda, Viċi-Versa, Sitta Ġewwa and many others.
